Terms of Service

Welcome to Spratling Silver. By accessing our website at spratlingsilver.mx or placing an order through our store, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions, we are always reachable at info@spratlingsilver.mx.

About Spratling Silver

Spratling Silver is the continuation of William Spratling's original workshop, established in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico in 1931. We produce handcrafted jewelry in .950 sterling silver, and flatware and tableware in .925 sterling silver. Every piece is made by hand by skilled artisans in Taxco and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to place an order on our website. By completing a purchase, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We reserve the right to request verification of age if we have reason to believe this condition has not been met.

Made-to-Order Nature of Our Products

All Spratling Silver pieces are made to order. Nothing you see on our website is held in stock. When you place an order, production of your specific piece begins in our Taxco workshop.

Production timelines — typically approximately 45 days, and longer for large or complex pieces — are estimates, not guarantees. While we make every effort to meet these timelines, handcraft is subject to the realities of skilled artisan work. We will keep you informed of your order's progress and notify you promptly of any significant delays.

By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept this made-to-order model and its associated timelines.

Pricing & Payment

All prices on our website are listed in United States Dollars (USD). We accept major credit cards and other payment methods as displayed at checkout. Payment is collected in full at the time of order placement.

Prices are subject to change without notice. The price displayed at the time you complete your order is the price you will be charged.

International Orders & Customs

Spratling Silver ships internationally from Mexico. Orders shipped outside of Mexico may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, VAT, or brokerage fees imposed by the destination country. These charges are entirely the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in our product prices or shipping rates.

We are unable to predict, control, or reimburse these fees. By placing an international order, you accept responsibility for any such charges that may arise upon import.

Material Specifications & Silver Care

Spratling Silver jewelry is crafted in .950 sterling silver (95% pure silver); our flatware and tableware are crafted in .925 sterling silver. Both offer the quality and luster of solid silver.

Silver is a living metal. Over time and with exposure to air, moisture, and certain substances, silver will naturally develop a patina — a darkening or toning of the surface. This is not a defect; it is a natural characteristic of silver and, to many collectors, a mark of authenticity and age. The patina can be easily removed with a soft silver polishing cloth to restore the original bright finish, or left to develop as a sign of the piece's history.

To care for your Spratling Silver piece:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, ideally in an anti-tarnish pouch or cloth
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to perfume, lotions, chlorine, and saltwater
  • Clean gently with a soft silver polishing cloth
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners or ultrasonic cleaners unless recommended by a professional jeweler

Wear, patina, and minor surface variations that develop through normal use are not considered defects and are not covered under our repair or replacement remedies.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every Spratling Silver piece is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity bearing a unique serial number and the original Spratling seal. This certificate is your assurance that the piece is a genuine, handcrafted Spratling Silver work produced in our Taxco workshop.

The Certificate of Authenticity is an integral part of the piece's provenance and value. Please retain it. If you ever need service for your piece, we may ask for the certificate's serial number to help us identify it.

Intellectual Property

All designs, patterns, and forms produced by Spratling Silver are proprietary and protected. The Spratling name, seal, and design vocabulary represent a legacy of nearly a century of original artistic work. Reproduction, imitation, or unauthorized use of Spratling Silver designs — in whole or in part — is strictly prohibited and may constitute infringement of intellectual property rights.

All content on our website, including photography, text, and design, is the property of Spratling Silver and may not be reproduced without written permission.

Website Accuracy

We make every effort to represent our pieces accurately through photography and description. However, please be aware that:

  • Colors and finishes may appear slightly different on screen depending on your device's display settings
  • Because each piece is handmade, there may be minor variations between the photographed sample and your finished piece — this is a feature of handcraft, not a flaw
  • Dimensions and weights are approximate

If you have specific questions about a piece before ordering, please contact us at info@spratlingsilver.mx and we will do our best to provide additional detail or photographs.

Order Cancellation & Fraud Prevention

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, orders that appear fraudulent, orders placed with incorrect or unverifiable payment information, or orders that we have reason to believe violate these terms.

If your order is cancelled by us, you will be notified promptly and any payment received will be refunded in full.

Limitation of Liability

Spratling Silver's liability in connection with any purchase is limited to the amount paid for the item in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use our products or website, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for matters that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Mexico. Any dispute arising from your use of our website or a purchase made through it shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Mexico.

Dispute Resolution

We believe most concerns can be resolved through honest conversation. If you have a dispute or concern, we ask that you first contact us at info@spratlingsilver.mx so we can work toward a resolution in good faith. If a resolution cannot be reached through direct communication, the matter will be subject to applicable Mexican law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our website or placement of an order after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
